Web12 mrt. 2024 · Nonmaleficence is the principle of refraining from causing unnecessary harm. This principle concerns a basic maxim of good medical care: Primum non nocere (i.e. first, do no harm). Although some of the medical interventions might cause pain or some harm, nonmaleficence refers to the moral justification behind why the harm is caused.
