One is a thick wire (8 AWG) that runs from the post on the alternator to the post on the starter. This wire will overlap a thicker wire which goes to the POS post on the battery.

If all your wires are good with minimal or no splicing and corrosion, and your generator and starter are good, then you shouldn't have problems.
